Hrmm, can't remember the exact name of the movie, think it was "Sometimes in April". I'm a real man, so I don't cry. But if I was any less of a man, I might have shed a tear. simply because it's a true story.

The only movie I ever cried while watching, The Passion of the Christ. I'm not even religious and gore doesn't bother me, but that flashback to when Jesus was a young boy with his mother was very powerful. I never felt that way watching a movie before.

Alright, here's one for you that I'd nearly forgotten.

It's anime. A young woman qualifies for a space program in defense of earth, which takes her out beyond the ability of realtime telecommunication, but she still sends voicemail to her boyfriend back on earth... while she is being trained to fight the aliens that threaten her home. Her messages take longer and longer to get back to her boyfriend until it's a matter of years before he receives her last. Can't tell you any more than that without spoiling it.

But I also can't remember the name of the movie! It's driving me nuts...

Well, why not immortalize my sentimentality for all time? It doesn't take a whole lot to get me to tear up. I'm big on selflessness and self-sacrifice for greater good. Often though, it's not tears of sadness, but just resolve. Depends on the movie.

Movie not mentioned yet:
Field of Dreams - when Doc Graham gives up all to help Ray's daughter, and then Ray's comprehension of what just happened...

Some mentioned already:
1.) Big Fish - Such a wonderful closing. Touching father/son moment.
2.) Shawshank Redemption - just a great movie, rough but worth it for the end.
3.) LOTR - many different points, so many in those films. Particularly in the last film between Frodo and Sam.
4.) Armageddon - just pure self-sacrifice. What a great moment.
5.) Gladiator - another wonderful one.

I saw someone mention Best of the Best, the 80's martial arts flick. While I won't put it in my list, I will say I've shed a tear or two watching the last 15 minutes of it.

There are many others, and I'm sure I could think of more if I had time.

** Passion of the Christ gets a special mention because, as a Christian, it was both a religious movie for me, as well as an emotional movie. I didn't cry, I 'mourned' is a better word.

dude, some of you guys need more testosterone seriously. tearing up in LOTR, no way. titanic teared me up towards the end of the moving. gladiator's ending made me a bit tearful. especially the part when he meets with his family in the afterlife.

the only movie that has made me cry is lassie, but i came damn close with armageddon...
other than that i dont often watch dramatic movies that could make one cry.

This is silly, but I just remembered that I sniffled somewhat at the end of Terminator2, when Arnie 'self-terminates'.
I recall being surprised at myself for that. Maybe it was the music. Heh.
